My family & I had stayed at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort twice. First in May-June 2011 & Second in December 2013 - January 2014. We stayed for about two weeks each visit. The very first time we had gone it was wonderful! No bed bugs, at least, not that we knew of. We weren't bothered with little bites, blood spots, bed bug shells. None of that. It was the most perfect vacation & we all had fallen in love with the Dolphin Resort!

Sad to say this second time around we noticed a few changes. The staff seemed less friendly than the first year we had visited. The room service didn't clean much & we had a cooler with a few drinks & snacks in it to take with us to the parks. When we had gotten back from one of the Disney Parks, our cooler wasn't closed tight. We were almost sure the maids had gone through and taken something but we didn't mind. Now as far as the bed bugs, I've never had an encounter with bed bugs before so I had no idea until the last few days of our trip.

From the very first night to the very last day I'd wake up with little bumps, my from my knees down were extremely itchy & had a burning sensation. I noticed blood on the sheets but assumed it was from all my scratching. Whenever I'd tuck my feet under the covers whether it was in the day or night I'd feel an itch. We were a family of 15 so we were split into 3 rooms & at least 2 people from each room were being bitten. My dad, brother, oldest nephew, oldest sister/her husband & I had little bite marks from between our toes to behind our knees. I never had this problem during the first visit.
Now like I said, my family & I have never encountered this before so we didn't think it could be bed bugs. I once got so aggravated I pulled the covers up & seen something crawl off of my foot & away under the covers. I couldn't find it after that. I told my family & that's when we found out it had been happening to other people too. By the time we figured out it was bed bugs we were on the last night of our trip & packing up to leave in the morning.

Now we're planning another trip in the next year & we would love to stay at the Dolphin but we can't make a decision until we're certain there won't be another bed bug parade going on under the covers.

fee9 from TripAdvisor reports a bed bug encounter at Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin during an April 2011 stay.

fee9 wrote, "Too many faults to mention but here are some highlights, Watch out for parking charges, watch out for tips being added to bills, bed bugs, trays lying in corridors for 8hours +, elevators getting stuck between floors, privacy cards mysteriopusly vanishing and no one willing to replace (resulting in pre 8am intrusion from housekeeping), $11 glass of wine or £6 beer ! Unfriendy service when you manage to get any."

Kajaz6 from TripAdvisor reports a bed bug encounter at Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin during an October 2012 stay.

The guests stayed at that hotel 2 yrs back and it was very nice so they decided to take the family there. They booked 2 adjoining rooms. They arrived oct 12. They gave them their rooms on the 4 th floor 423 and 424. After a flight some people took a shower and took a nap as reporter checked the beds and room to make sure it was clean and with out bed bugs. Reporter put his/her gloves on and took his/her light and started looking, the first bed was disgusting he/she found 4 bed bugs on the dust ruffle blood stains on the bed along with hair and more bed bugs. They switched their rooms to a different floor and supposedly treated their luggage and clothes.
